How to measure

  • Bust: around the fullest part, with the tape level across your back and your arms relaxed.
  • Waist: around your natural waist, the narrowest part of your torso; bend to one side to find it.
  • Hips: around the fullest part of your hips, standing with your feet together.
  • Hollow to hem: from the hollow at the base of your neck straight down to where the hem should fall, in your shoes.

These are typical conversions, a rule of thumb rather than a standard every brand follows. Brands cut differently, and bridal and evening designers use their own charts, so your measurements and the brand's chart decide.

How it works

The converter uses a typical international size table: each US size lines up with its UK, EU, French, Italian, Australian and Japanese equivalent and a letter size.

From measurements, each one is matched to the size cut for it, and the largest size any measurement needs is the one to order; a tailor can take the rest in.

These are rules of thumb. Brands and bridal designers use their own charts, so check the chart for the dress you are buying.

Your last answer, measurements included, is kept only in this browser. Measurements are never added to the page address.
